A Real Well--With Water In It

Jeremiah 2:13 (NIV)

"My people have committed two sins:

They have forsaken Me, the spring of living water,

and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water."

Psalm 42:7a (NIV)

Deep calls to deep...

Galatians 2:20b (NIV)

...I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

Our anticipation as we approached the well at the Wick House was replaced by disappointment when we gazed down into its dryness.

"I want to see a real well--with water in it." she said.

Deep calls to deep.

It was deep within I heard Your voice.

Your voice. How is it explainable?

Deep You speak. Words interwoven with the process of their understanding.

It was there--deep--I heard You reveal our connection. It was in a deeper, more profound way than before. It was a way born of Your fingers weaving the threads of my experiences stretched and tied to fit Your purposes. These were the experiences that were the good works You ordained for me. Good works. None but God is good. None but Your works are good. I can call "good" all Your ordained ways for me, even those that have me wretched.

Deep calls to deep...

"I no longer live, but Christ lives in me..."

There, deep, we are together. No thought of mine is thought outside of Your Presence. That knowing is deeper in me now than before. The same truth that can be known at 3. And at 93. Always more. I can't capture it on paper, but it is captured in my deep; where You taught it to me it remains, permeating the atmosphere, being reality. And I remain forever changed.

A real well with water in it.
