Escape From Legalism

So often in my spiritual life I have assumed I have known some-thing when, in fact, I have just begun to scratch the surface of it. In I Corinthians 8:2 we are told, "The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know." Nowhere is this truer than with me and my grasp of Godís grace. One reason I think grace is so amazing is that itís amazing I have lived as a believer for so long with so little personal understanding of it.

Thankfully, God spends as much time with us on a subject as we need. He is spending a whole lot of time with me on this one. My dilemma is that I canít run and skip and dance in the freedom of grace with that heavy yoke of legalism draped over my shoulders. For a long time, however, I didnít know that that yoke was there. He has had to show me what was going on and then teach me how to stop letting it happen. He has had to teach me tható

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.

Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be

burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
