Trusting

Introduction

Psalm 27:13 (NKJ)

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed

That I would see the goodness of the Lord

In the land of the living.

Trust is the bottom line. The things we read in the Bible are just so many words on a page to us unless we wrap our trust around them and gather them into our innermost being.

My father had a heart attack the year I was a brand new believer and a new friend comforted me by directing me to Psalm 27:13. That was many years ago. Several months ago the Holy Spirit once again directed me back into the reality of Psalm 27 and now I bring it up so often that my friends think it is the only scripture I know. Itís just that God is still showing me that I have a choice to make:

To take heart or to lose heart,

To hope or to despair,

To rest or to worry and strive,

To walk by faith or by sight,

To listen to the One who cannot lie

or to the one who cannot tell the truth,

To trust or to doubt.

My father recovered from the heart attack to live another twenty-five full and healthy years. God has brought me through many "heart attacks" into fuller life, also. I have seen the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

trust: complete assurance and certitude regarding the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone
